The tree outside of my office is a Crepe Myrtle. Starting January 2009, I began to observe this tree more closely as part of a creative exercise to shoot images of the tree from the same station point during the remaining three seasons.
Here are the results of my year-long tree study:

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month!

Because prostate cancer kills so many of its victims, September has been named prostate cancer awareness month. This is a time when information about the disease and its treatments is distributed nationwide in an effort to get more men to be tested for early diagnosis and treatment, the best way to prevent them dying from this disease.

In their continuing effort to fight the disease, CPDR conducts annual prostate cancer screenings at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. To support this effort, I have designed and printed posters to help get the word out. The posters (below) will be posted to help motivate and inspire men to get this necessary screening.

UPDATE 7/10/2009 - LogoLounge Book 5 just Arrived!

My work is on Page 118-C. The book can be purchased HERE

UPDATE 9/9/2008 - LogoLounge Book 5 Selections Completed

I made it into the book!

Upon my return from a much needed vacation, I received notice that the judging for LogoLounge Volume 5 had been completed and one of the logos I submitted was selected to be published in the book. This was my first time entering the LogoLounge competition.

Over 33,000 logos were entered for consideration and evaluated by an international panel of judges. This years panel included, Andreas Karl of Karl Design, Von Glitschka of Glitschka Studios, Michelle Sonderegger of Design Ranch, Sarah Moffat of Turner Duckworth, Jamie Koval of VSA Partners, Vince Frost of Frost Design, Bronwen Rautenbach of The Brand Union, and Alex de Janosi of Lippincott.

LogoLounge Volume 5 has a release date of June 2009.

Logo Lounge Book V - Call for Entries

For a long time now, I have wanted to work up enough nerve to submit my work in hopes of being published in a graphic design book. After some encouragement from a few of my peers and awesome support of my wife, I finally did just that.

Logo Lounge has a call for entries for their upcoming Book V and the deadline is today! Who says designers aren't procrastinators? In the previous 4 books published by Logo Lounge, I have seen a lot of my friends and colleagues have their work make the cut. It's really cool when you go through a design book and recognize the work right off the bat and impulsively say to others around you, "Hey! I know this guy, or gal!" Each published designer I know becomes an instant celebrity to me, not that I don't think highly of my designer friends already.

The majority of my work is graphic design and illustration type of projects. Rarely do I get to do logo design so this is a real treat to be able to submit my work to their site with the possibility of being published. Below is a small sample of the work I submitted for Logo Lounge Book V:

Wish me luck in having any of them published.
